📍 LOS ANGELES

CHLOE IN VENICE

Chloe is a born and bred east coast girl, now living in Los Angeles. Here's what she's up to on a typical day in Venice, wearing our new summer collection.

Photographed by Lindsay.

What are your favorite activities to do in Venice?

I love walking along the beach, through the canals, and down Abbot Kinney. I also love exploring new coffee shops where I can hang out and get some work done.... Oooo and also trying new food there's so much good food to try.

Is there anything you miss from Maine that you can’t find in LA, or vice versa?

I miss how quiet it is in Maine. I grew up in a coastal town of 8,000 people. Everyone knows everyone and it feels completely safe. I am more aware of my surroundings in LA, but I do love the chaos of Venice. I don’t think you can find that just anywhere.

WHAT IS YOUR GO TO OUTFIT?

My daily outfit is usually a pair of loose, low-rise jeans and a graphic tee. I’ve always prioritized comfort, so I rarely wear something I don’t feel comfortable in. I think because my dad dressed me like the boy of the family for the first five years of my life before my brother was born, I naturally gravitate toward more gender-neutral styles. That usually means a graphic tee, jeans, maybe a baseball hat, and tennis shoes.

What is your favorite part about living on the West Coast?

100% my favorite part about living on the West Coast is the diversity of the nature and climate. I graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2025, and Northern California compared to Southern California feels like a completely different world. I’ve lived in California for almost six years, and there’s still so much I want to explore.

Could you see yourself living in Venice or on the West Coast long-term?

I’m coming up on my sixth year living in California, and I plan to stay for another year or two. But I'm counting down the days until I move back to the East Coast :)

What advice would you give to someone considering a similar move?

I would tell anyone considering a big move to just go for it, you can always move back. Moving somewhere new, making new friends, and building a life for yourself in a different place is such a rewarding experience. I’d also say to put yourself out there and reach out to people. If you think someone seems cool, or you have mutual friends, ask them to grab coffee...but I’m SO lucky that my sister lives in Venice too, so honestly, anywhere with her feels like home.

If friends from Maine visited you, where would you take them first?

I’d first take them to get coffee at Gjusta. Then I’d walk them down to the Venice Boardwalk because it feels like a completely different world from Maine. After that, I’d pack everyone into my car and drive up to Malibu along the PCH.

That drive was definitely one of the biggest selling points for me.

If you could only take three items to the beach, what would they be?

My surfboard, sunscreen, and a towel.

What similarities and differences do you find between living in Maine and living in Venice?

Moving to Venice from Maine, I’ve found that the similarities between the two come more from the people than the places themselves. Most of the people I’ve connected with the most are from the East Coast, and surprisingly, some of my closest friends are girls I knew from childhood in Maine but never really got the chance to connect with until moving to LA. Being so far from home, I tend to gravitate toward people who feel like home, whether that’s because we grew up similarly, can bond over the brutal winters, or know people in common. Having those connections makes me feel a little less far from home.

How has moving to a new city impacted your lifestyle?

LA has taught me that it’s okay to be completely yourself. In Venice, everyone is so unapologetically themselves, and there are so many different kinds of people that I genuinely think I could walk outside in a zebra costume and nobody would bat an eye. It’s incredibly freeing. There’s room for everyone, and I’ve never felt put into a box.
