“It’s June 2026, and we are laying in Nikola’s mom’s yard in Verdelais.
It’s the hottest summer on record in France. Everyone always says it’s the hottest summer on record, but this time it’s true.”
📍 Verdelais
Only 20 minutes outside of Bordeaux, but a world apart. Here, the only sounds are buzzing crickets, a very confident Wood Pigeon, and the ringing church bell every hour.
"we pick tomatoes from the garden for a very late dinner, but it’s finally cooled off a bit - 85 degrees from the usual 100- and we decide to take a stroll around the village."
“Our boyfriends who have tagged along, spent all afternoon in the garage building a fishing pole, and it’s finally time to go out and try it.
We follow them to the creek sipping on coke and snacking on peaches from the local (and only) store, and decide to snap some pictures.”
📍 Hossegor
Hossegor is probably well known by the French, but for us it feels like a discovery: a cool beach town with a saltwater lake and canal.
Foggy in the morning with a dramatic low tide, and bright by the afternoon.
“We wander away from the group to take a walk along the canal and oyster farms, and then meet up with everyone for ice cream at the beach.”
