OUR COMMITMENT
At RAT BOI, we believe clothes should feel good to wear and good to make. From the fabrics we choose to the factories we partner with, we aim to make thoughtful decisions at every step of the process. While we’re always learning and growing, these are some of the ways we’re working to create products more responsibly.
THOUGHTFUL MATERIALS
Many RAT BOI pieces are made using GOTS-certified organic cotton, which ensures the cotton is grown without harmful pesticides and processed under strict environmental and social standards.
We also work with deadstock fabrics whenever possible. Deadstock refers to excess fabric from mills or production runs that would otherwise go unused. By incorporating these materials into our collections, we’re able to reduce waste and give existing textiles a second life.
In addition to cotton, we use eco-friendly TENCEL™ fibers in select styles. TENCEL is made from responsibly sourced wood pulp and produced in a closed-loop process designed to minimize water and chemical waste.
ETHICAL PRODUCTION
Most RAT BOI garments are made locally in Los Angeles, allowing us to work closely with our production partners and support skilled garment workers in our community.
Our core fabrics are also woven locally, and many of our styles are produced entirely within a 10-mile radius in Los Angeles - from fabric knitting to cutting, sewing, and finishing. Keeping production close to home allows us to maintain higher quality standards, reduce transportation impacts, and build long-term relationships with the people who make our clothing.
While much of our production happens locally in Los Angeles, we also partner with select overseas factories that meet our ethical production standards. These facilities are WRAP-certified, meaning they are independently audited for fair wages, safe working conditions, and responsible labor practices.
RAT BOI produces in small batches to help prevent overproduction and excess inventory. This approach allows us to focus on quality, longevity, and thoughtful design rather than producing more than what is needed.
Some of our pieces are also artisan made, produced in smaller batches with careful attention to detail.
RESPONSIBLE PACKAGING AND SHIPPING
We are continually working to reduce the environmental impact of our packaging and fulfillment.
Orders ship in Better Packaging Co. eco mailers, made from 100% recycled plastic pollution collected from coastal communities in Southeast Asia. Each mailer is traceable — you can scan the code printed on the back to learn where the recovered plastic originated.
Garments are protected during transit in BDP (Breakdown Plastic) polybags, designed to break down more quickly than conventional plastics under landfill conditions.
We encourage customers to reuse our mailers whenever possible, and when they reach the end of their life, they can be recycled with soft plastics and plastic bags where facilities are available.
RAT BOI also offers climate-neutral shipping. We offset 100% of the carbon emissions generated from transporting online orders by supporting projects that reduce atmospheric carbon.

Sustainability is not a finish line - it’s an ongoing commitment. As RAT BOI grows, we will continue looking for ways to improve our materials, reduce waste, and support ethical production.
