Palaka Totes

This collection of reversible tote bags is a collaboration with the woman who taught me how to sew—my mom! Growing up in Hawaiʻi, we spent so much time sewing together—boardshorts, costumes, dresses, tops, pillows, and, of course, bags. One of the first things she taught me to make was a bag, so it felt perfect to bring this design to our gift shop this holiday season.

Each tote features palaka on the outside and Hawaiian print on the inside—an homage to my favorite fabrics from childhood. The materials are all sourced from the same local fabric store I grew up shopping at, and the totes are inspired by the ones we made together when I was learning to sew. Every bag was lovingly made by my mom in her home sewing studio in Makaha, HI. Once these bags sell out, they won’t be restocked, making each one truly special and one of a kind.
